'If you want to eat, you'll have to accompany me downstairs.'

Dark eyes grew warm with silent laughter. 'Pity,' Laz murmured lazily. 'I rather fancy a picnic in bed. It could end up being fun.'

Ignoring him, she turned and left the room, and by the time she reached the stairs he was right behind her, a dark blue towelling-robe belted at his waist.

'Hannah has probably left something for us in the refrigerator,' he murmured quietly as they reached the lower floor, and she followed him to a large well-equipped kitchen at the rear of the house.

A small table was set for two covered with an organza tablecloth, and she watched as he crossed to remove a note anchored prominently on a cork noticeboard next to the oven.

'Hmm,' Laz mused, scanning it quickly. There's a casserole which will take only a few minutes to heat in the microwave. And Mike rang. He's arranged a press conference for us at ten tomorrow morning—today,' he corrected a trifle wryly.

'Us?'

His dark glance seemed to sear through to her very soul. 'You're sitting in with me,' he declared silkily, and she shook her head in silent negation. 'Yes, Rachel.'

'Fantastic,' she muttered stiltedly. 'I'm only in the country a few hours, and you throw me to the wolves.'

His gaze was remarkably steady. 'I'll be there."

'Hah,' she discounted with deliberate sarcasm, and her eyes sparked with anger.

'Make some coffee,' he directed hardily. 'While I see to the casserole.'
